Guinness World Record created by GD Goenka Public School Lucknow in DNA Isolation. The second day of the India International Science Festival (IISF) gave Lucknow a Guinness World Record for the ‘maximum number of people conducting a DNA isolation experiment’, on Saturday. As many as 550 students of GD Goenka Public School entered the list of world record holders by conducting DNA isolation of banana each for 1 hour 1 minute making it the maximum number of students conducting the experiment at the same time. The Principal of the school received the Guinness World Records (GWR) certificate after the exercise.
“The previous record was held by 302 children and was achieved by the Seattle Children’s Research Institute in Seattle, Washington, the USA on February 8, 2017. But now Lucknow students have set a new record,” said Guinness World Record adjudicator Rishi Nath.
On this occasion, Dr. Renu Swarup, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, said that this kind of experiment will not only increase the name of India but also increase the trend towards science in the students. The chairman of the institute told that before this, 302 people in the USA had made a record of DNA isolation.
