On October 1, 2024, GD Goenka Public School, Mahanagar, commemorated Gandhi Jayanti with great fervor and enthusiasm. The special assembly, conducted by grade 2 students, was a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s life and legacy. The Gandhi Jayanti celebration at GD Goenka Public School, Mahanagar, was a testament to the school’s dedication to inculcating values and promoting social awareness among its students.
The young participants shared fascinating facts about Gandhi ji’s childhood and his non-violent resistance against British rule. They also explained the significance of Gandhi ji’s three monkeys – Mizaru (see no evil), Kikazaru (hear no evil), and Iwazaru (speak no evil) – emphasizing the importance of avoiding evil thoughts, words, and actions.
Children were also made aware of the importance of the Spinning Wheel ( Charkha) which Gandhiji used to weave his own clothes and thus inspire the Swadeshi Movement against the British Rule.
Through a poignant presentation, the students showcased Gandhi ji’s philosophy of non-violence, truth, and simplicity. They encouraged their peers to adopt these values in their daily lives.
The students pledged to follow Gandhi ji’s principles and strive for a more harmonious and peaceful society.
